Mikey is finally potty trained!

He was basically trained by his 3rd bday but we had a few accidents 2 weeks later. Oddly enough, the Monday before his birthday I just told him no more diapers and put him in undies. Day 1 he went through 7 pairs and day 2 only 2 or 3. By Friday (his bday) he was pee and poop trained...even for the night! Just recently I have been putting him in undies for nighttime and has been doing amazingly well! Im so proud of my little guy! He was soooo easy compared to Hailey! She wasnt trained fully until 2 months after her 3rd bday but it took patience on my end. One day she just said she wanted undies and that was it. What I did for Mikey was put him on the potty every 30 minutes for day 1 and 2 and look for signs. By day 3 he was telling me when he had to go all of the time. I seriously cannot believe I dont have to buy diapers anymore! Woo!!! Only bad thing is that I bought a box of diapers 2 days before I decided this was it and used a few. Darn!!!!!!

yahooo...my Ryan has been pt since about 2 yrs 6 mo's old...he did it himself...at least ur done with diapers...I have 2 more to go

Thats awesome that Ryan was ready before he turned 3. Mikey was super lazy and didnt want to do it. I didnt want to push him and I think we tried at the perfect time. Either way I am sooooo happy to have them out of diapers and pullups! Well, I shouldnt really say pullups...I put Mikey in a pullup when we go out most of the time...just in case he doesnt make it.

That is really great. I don't know what to do with mine. He seem so ready, so we have started. Twice. And stopped, twice. He starts off great then starts freaking out, so we don't want to push him.
If it's when he's 3, I"m fine with that. I'm just worried he's going to keep doing this freak out thing until he's 5

Way to go Mikey!!!!! Tristan just started going pee in the potty about 2 weeks ago. Still pees in his pull up sometimes. He has yet to poop in the potty. Any tips i can get from you ladies? Thanks

Katie if you are going to do potty training...be consistant. I would not even do the pullups duting the day. Just put him in undies and he will eventually get the picture that being wet or stinky isn't fun. Also, put him on the potty every 30 minutes and in between look for signs such as staring, holding himself, jumping...you know...the "pee pee dance." LOL Good for Tristan that he is peeing on the potty and doesnt have a potty fear!

Hey Marissa,
Benny will do super good until he starts freaking out. I am thinking he is not motivated as he really doesn't mind being wet. The diaper can be drooping to the floor and he'll say, "no don't change my diaper. It's dry. I'm fine."

So was Mikey at the point he didn't like being wet?

We also did the pull up thing and you're probably right to just go straight for the undies. I tried them the first time and he immediately pee'd. So I don't know. Maybe he's just not ready

Mikey was showing interest in the potty and waking up dry and peeing on the potty in the morning. He was also telling me when he was wet but not when he pooped. Day one I went through 7 pairs of undies for him but I just kept putting him back in them. He hates being wet and if he has an accident he gets very upset. Today we went to Target and I had him in his undies and just kept watching him. He did totally fine. Kari, just try undies only for a day and see what he does. Just be prepared to clean the floors a lot. I used pj bottoms when training him so they were easier to get on and off and I make him sit...not stand. I was really just sick of diapers to be honest. He was trained in less than a week...maybe like 3 days. If you are going to do undies soon maybe take him to the store and let him pick out his own and just be really excited about it. Mikey picked his out,,toy story. lol

Benny picked out some undies awhile ago, then refused to let me put them on him. When he finally allowed me to put them on, he pee'd immediately.
So I don't think he is quite ready LOL. Close, but not quite there.

It definitely sounds like Mikey was ready, and that's awesome he is doing so well
