Visit with MFM

I know I'm going to drive you all crazy with my every week updates. You'll be glad to hear I'm soon going to be moving to a "normal" pg person's OB visit schedule so you won't have to hear from me ALL the time!

Anyway, earlier this week, we visited Maternal Fetal Medicine after our regular OB intake appt. They wanted me to go because of the clotting disorders I have. They did a full scan... 4D too! The baby was 10 1/2 weeks so we were able to see it moving it's arms a bit and "hopping" every once and awhile. It's heartbeat was a beautiful 171! They taped it for us so we have 5 minutes of our little one on video. When I met with the Dr., he dropped my loss rate to less than 5%. Less than 5%!!!! I've never been close to that before... it was very encouraging.

I am going to start Lupron injections late next week and then switch to Heparin at 34 weeks. That's a belly needle every morning... hoping I can suck it up and do it myself without having to wake up my poor husband before I'm off to work.

My next appt is at 12 wks... can I wait the 10 days to hear the heartbeat again???

Not irritated at all! I could use an update from you EVERY STINKIN' DAY!!! I am so glad things are going so well! <5% is phenomenal. Absolutely fantastic

I thought the belly needles weren't as bad as the butt/hip ones. Hopefully yours won't be too bad

That's an AWESOME update, Leah... Less than 5% miscarriage is beautiful music to my ears!

Did you mean Lovenox and not Lupron? Have you taken Lovenox before? I was on it until week 12 with this one... The needle is larger than usual... it's a bugger! I bumped into the Lovenox rep while waiting for my refill, and she told me the best place for the shot is in my love handles. Ice it up, pinch, and inject, and you won't feel much. Don't rub the area afterwards b/c it'll cause bruising.

I'm soooo excited for you sweetie! I can't wait until your 12w update!
